Liberty is on an eight-game streak of home wins, while Freedom is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Lions will welcome the Falcons at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Liberty came out on top against Berkeley on Saturday thanks in part to the team's impressive eight-run first inning. The Lions were the clear victors by a 12-1 margin over the Yellowjackets.
Kelsie Skaggs was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabella Rice, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Liberty always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .533. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Berkeley only posted an OBP of .211.
Meanwhile, Freedom made easy work of Heritage on Thursday and carried off a 10-3 win. The Falcons haven't had any issues with the Patriots recently, as the game was their third consecutive victory against them.
Jaclyn Graves looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Freedom got a massive performance out of Yasmeen Sanchez, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Sanchez has been hot recently, having posted three or more hits the last four times she's played. Alexis Rhoads was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.
Liberty's win bumped their record up to 16-4. As for Freedom, the victory got them back to even at 7-7-1.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Liberty hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .393. However, it's not like Freedom struggles in that department as they've averaged .400. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Liberty took their win against Freedom in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 by a conclusive 14-3 score. Will the Lions repeat their success, or do the Falcons have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
