The Chula Vista Spartans had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 47.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They breezed by Castle Park on the road to the tune of 49-13. The result was nothing new for Chula Vista, who have now won six matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Chula Vista's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but La'Darrione Perkins led the charge by rushing for 165 yards and two touchdowns on only ten carries. Perkins was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Izaac Baca was another key contributor, throwing for 147 yards and four touchdowns.
Although Castle Park took the loss, they still got scores from Sebastian Lozano and Christian Hayes.
Chula Vista's victory bumped their record up to 7-2. As for Castle Park, they now have a losing record at 4-5.
Chula Vista will look to defend their home field on October 27th against San Ysidro at 6:30 p.m. San Ysidro is coming into the contest on a six-game losing streak. As for Castle Park, they will head out on the road to face off against Southwest SD at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Southwest SD is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
