The Howard Eagles will be home for the holidays to greet the Faith Christian Academy Conquerors on Monday. The timing isn't great for Howard: they have been struggling with four straight losses at home dating back to last season, while Faith Christian Academy has snatched up two consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 73-29, which was the final score in Howard's tilt against Riverside Christian Academy two weeks ago. While losing is never fun, Howard can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 500th, while Riverside Christian Academy is ranked 151st).
Meanwhile, Faith Christian Academy was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 43-39 to Mount Calvary Christian Academy.
Dani Dawson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 19 points along with seven steals. She scored a full 48.7% of Faith Christian Academy's points, the seventh time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Natalia Salinas, who scored eight points.
Howard's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Faith Christian Academy, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Howard ended up a good deal behind Faith Christian Academy in their previous matchup back in February, losing 52-34. Can Howard avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
