The Rockhurst Hawklets had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They came out on top against St. Louis University by a score of 62-52. Given Rockhurst's advantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while St. Louis University is ranked 266th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Rockhurst got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Maxwell Moylan out in front who scored ten points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Cohen Robinson, who scored nine points along with four steals.
Rockhurst is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. As for St. Louis University, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockhurst on the road again on Friday and play against Shawnee Mission East at 7:00 p.m. on January 26th. Shawnee Mission East and Rockhurst are at an even 5-5 over their past ten head-to-heads. As for St. Louis University, they will head out on the road to challenge Webster Groves at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Webster Groves knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully St. Louis University likes a good challenge.
