Baseball Game Preview: Pascack Hills Broncos vs. Ramapo Raiders

The Pascack Hills Broncos will head out to face off against the Ramapo Raiders at 4:15 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Pascack Hills gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Mahwah. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Broncos.

Anthony Blackford made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 13 batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). Those 13 strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one double. He has become a key player for Pascack Hills: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-8 otherwise.

In other batting news, Kyle Wenckus was excellent, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Corey Ginsberg also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Pascack Hills kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mahwah only managed five hits.

Meanwhile, Ramapo entered their tilt with Paramus on Tuesday with six consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with seven. They were the clear victors by an 8-2 margin over the Spartans. Considering the Raiders have won seven games by more than five runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ramapo pushed their record up to 11-2 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.5 runs over those games. As for Pascack Hills, their record is now 7-8.
