The Olentangy Orange Pioneers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Olentangy Orange and Centerville wasn't particularly close, with Olentangy Orange falling 23-6. While losing is never fun, Olentangy Orange can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio football rankings (they are ranked 95th, while Centerville is ranked 27th).
Centerville found their leader in underclassman Parker Johnson, who rushed for 120 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries.
Another reason for the win was Centerville's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for three sacks. Leading the way was Mason Keely and his two sacks.
Olentangy Orange's loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 3-7. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-3 Upper Arlington (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 62.6% over those games). As for Centerville, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Olentangy Orange does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Centerville will be playing at home against Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Springfield is coming into the match hot, having won their last three games.
