The Woodstown Wolverines will be playing at home against the Penns Grove Red Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Woodstown put the finishing touches on their fifth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Dunellen 42-6 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 35-0.
Bryce Belinfanti continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 168 yards and four touchdowns on only eight carries, while also catching a touchdown. Belinfanti's longest rush was for an incredible 84 yards. Another player making a difference was Max Webb, who threw for 24 yards and a touchdown on only two passes.
Meanwhile, Penns Grove sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-3 victory over Florence Township Memorial on Friday.
Penns Grove's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Bryce Wright, who rushed for 113 yards, and Karon Ceaser, who rushed for 81 yards and a touchdown on only ten carries.
Woodstown's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.0 points per game. As for Penns Grove, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 5-5 record this season.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's matchup: Woodstown has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 228.7 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Penns Grove struggles in that department as they've been averaging 209.5 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Woodstown strolled past Penns Grove in their previous matchup two weeks ago by a score of 21-6. Will Woodstown repeat their success, or does Penns Grove have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
