The South Lenoir Blue Devils lost against the James Kenan Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. South Lenoir took a 34-25 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Tigers.
Several Blue Devils players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Alexus Haddock, who scored ten points along with six steals. Another player making a difference was Tyazhia Midgett, who scored seven points along with six rebounds.
James Kenan found their leader in underclassman Y'Anna Rivers, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Rivers hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games.
South Lenoir dropped their record down to 7-11 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.0 points per game. As for James Kenan, the win got them back to even at 9-9.
South Lenoir will head out on the road to face off against the Stallions at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Southwest Onslow will be coming into the match with an undefeated record on the line. As for James Kenan, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in North Carolina (Kinston is ranked 231st, while the Tigers are ranked 250th).
