After a string of five wins, the Williams Vikings's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were beaten by El Capitan/Centennial Academy 75-45. Williams has struggled against El Capitan/Centennial Academy recently, as their game on Friday was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Williams still got an impressive performance from Brody Trimble, who scored 13 points along with six rebounds and two blocks. Trimble is trending in the right direction, as he's improved his point production for three games straight. The team also got some help courtesy of Nickoli Cody, who scored 11 points.
It was another big night for Ethan Hammon, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and four blocks for El Capitan/Centennial Academy. Another player making a difference was Shez Barlow, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds.
Williams' loss dropped their record down to 16-9. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they pushed their record up to 18-4 with that victory, which was their 18th straight at home dating back to last season.
Williams will take on Grand Canyon at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Grand Canyon comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for El Capitan/Centennial Academy, they will head out on the road to take on Ash Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Ash Fork focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Friday.
