Palmer is 1-9 against Wasilla since May of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Moose will host the Warriors at 6:30 p.m. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a five-game winning streak alive.
Palmer came out on top against Houston on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive five-run seventh inning. The Moose were the clear victors by a 9-3 margin over the Hawks. The Moose might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by six runs or more this season.
Reed Craner was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Palmer is undefeated when Craner allows two or fewer hits, but 4-5 otherwise. Craner was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

In other batting news, Wyatt Jacobs and Wyatt Beal did most of the damage at the plate: Jacobs went 1-for-3 with three RBI and one double, while Beal went 1-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Those two runs gave Beal a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mason Miller, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Palmer hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Houston struck out 14 times.
Meanwhile, Wasilla faced Colony in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Warriors came out on top in a nail-biter against the Knights, sneaking past 9-8.
Like Palmer, Wasilla also got a great game from a two-way player: Ramon Guzman. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Guzman has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Hunter Delcour was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI. Jacob Johnson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.
Wasilla pushed their record up to 15-4-1 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Palmer, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Palmer has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.3 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Wasilla struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 7.2 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Palmer might still be hurting after the 11-5 defeat they got from Wasilla in their previous meeting back in April. Will the Moose have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the match for a full breakdown of the game, commentary, and other baseball content.
