The St. Ignatius/Charlo/Arlee Bulldogs will take on the Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua Scotties at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua will challenge a team with plenty of momentum: St. Ignatius/Charlo/Arlee extended their winning streak to seven back in April. The Bulldogs were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Thompson Falls.
St. Ignatius/Charlo/Arlee let Alecia Steele and Maia Christopher run wild. Steele went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Christopher went 3-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Avia Lee, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
St. Ignatius/Charlo/Arlee always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .559. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Thompson Falls only posted an OBP of .143.
Meanwhile, Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua made easy work of Shelby on Friday and carried off a 16-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Scotties, who have now won eight games by six runs or more so far this season.
Brynlie Boreson was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out nine over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with five RBI, one run, and one double. Those three hits gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tessa Studheit, who went 4-for-5 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jensina Tweten, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Glasgow/Hinsdale/Nashua has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-6-1 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for St. Ignatius/Charlo/Arlee, their record now sits at 2-0.
