With a playoff win on the line, West Charlotte rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 36-20 victory over the Hickory Red Tornadoes. The win was familiar territory for the Lions who have now won eight matches in a row.
West Charlotte found their leader in sophomore Jamouri Nichols, who threw for 265 yards and two touchdowns while completing 86.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 60 yards and one touchdown. Those 265 passing yards gave Nichols a new career-high. Emory McClain JR handled things on the ground, rushing for 103 yards and a rushing touchdown.
When it comes to explaining why Hickory lost, don't look at Isaiah Lackey. Despite the final result, he rushed for 104 yards and three touchdowns. Lackey is on a roll when it comes to rushing touchdowns, as he's now punched in three or more in the last three games he's played. West Charlotte pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their seventh straight on the road.
