Football Recap: Santa Rosa Academy's Rushing Dominance Continues

With a playoff win on the line, Santa Rosa Academy rose to the challenge on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 35-21 win over the Heritage Patriots. 35 seems to be a good number for the Rangers as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.

Jacob Goode produced another solid effort rushing for 101 yards and one touchdown, while also throwing for 80 yards and a pair of TDs. His rushing production has been exceptional recently as that marked his fourth straight game with at least 100 rushing yards. Tyler Quaintance made the highlight reel by snagging an interception and taking it all the way to the house.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Santa Rosa Academy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 253 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 227 rushing yards in eight consecutive matchups.

Santa Rosa Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Aaron Quesada and Quaintance. Quaintance got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Despite the loss, Heritage still got an impressive performance from Matthew Flores, who rushed for 105 yards and a pair of scores, and also picked up 34 receiving yards.

Santa Rosa Academy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 32.8 points over those games. As for Heritage, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 3-8.

Coming up, Santa Rosa Academy will square off against Saddleback at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Goode and Andre Scott. Heritage does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
