There's no place like home for The Newport Harbor Sailors, who bounced back after a tough loss on the road last Thursday. They slipped by Corona del Mar 21-20 on Friday. The score was all tied up 14-14 at the break, but Newport Harbor was the better team in the second half.
Newport Harbor got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jaden O'Neal out in front who threw for 193 yards and three touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Cade Fegel, who picked up 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
When it comes to explaining why Corona del Mar lost, one person who can't be blamed is Annett Kaleb. Despite the final result, he threw for 310 yards and three touchdowns while completing 76.9% of his passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Dorsett Stecker, who picked up 111 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Newport Harbor's win bumped their record up to 5-5. As for Corona del Mar, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 5-5.
