The Rangely Panthers had to endure a four-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They strolled past Dolores with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 62-48. The victory was just what Rangely needed coming off of a 66-36 loss in their prior game.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Rangely to victory, but perhaps none more so than Landon Bollinger, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Tristan Scott was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds.
Despite the loss, Dolores had strong showings from Michael Rantz, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds, and Jonathan Purkat, who scored 12 points. Rantz hasn't dropped below two steals for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Mark Palate, who scored three points along with four steals.
Rangely pushed their record up to 1-1 with that victory, which was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 60.0 points per game. As for Dolores, they now have a losing record at 2-3.
Rangely will be playing at home against Nucla at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Nucla presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rangely in Colorado (Nucla is ranked 32nd, while Rangely is ranked 142nd). Dolores won't have much time to rest: their next match is against North Park at 1:30 p.m. on December 9th. Allowing an average of 53 points per game, North Park has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game.
