5A Mid-Willamette recap Oct. 30, 2012
Silverton extended the longest winning streak in 5A Mid-Willamette this week by beating South Albany, 48-7. The victory was the ninth in a row for the Foxes.
Crescent Valley's dynamic duo of Tanner Sanders and Chase McFadden proved tough for Woodburn to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Sanders threw for 288 yards and two touchdowns and McFadden had 130 yards receiving. Tanner Holland helped Crescent Valley's passing attack out by catching one ball for 61 yards.
Caleb Naughton was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 147 yards on 11 carries as Dallas defeated the Bulldogs. Jaylon Smothers also contributed to the rushing game with 105 yards on the ground.
6-foot-5 quarterback Sanders of Crescent Valley is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1860. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, West Albany's Jake Lacoste has rushed for 2096 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Brendon Breslin. The West Albany star has 27 catches for 610 yards.
Scott Sanders' team's Sanders is within 140 passing yards of surpassing 2,000 on the season coming into this week's game against Eagle Point.
The Raiders' Nick Pozzesi needs only 34 yards against the Eagles next week to surpass 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 191 carries Pozzesi has accumulated 966 yard this year.
Lebanon made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,516 from 6,967. The improvement came about via a 58-35 victory over the Dragons last week.
