Baseball Recap: Grantsville Wins Going Away Against Ben Lomond

Grantsville won the last time they faced Ben Lomond and things went their way on Thursday too. The Cowboys were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Scots. The Cowboys might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.

Krue Warren made a splash no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has become a key player for Grantsville: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one hit, but 3-6 otherwise. Warren was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple and one run.

In other batting news, Payton Cummings was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Grantsville is 2-1 when Cummings posts three or more RBI, but 4-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Cooper Castagno, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.

Grantsville lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've posted since back in April of 2024.

The win made it two in a row for Grantsville and bumps their season record up to 6-7. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Ben Lomond, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-11.

Coming up, Grantsville will square off against Kearns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday. The Cowboys are facing the Cougars at the right time seeing as the Cougars are stuck on a ten-game losing streak. As for Ben Lomond, they will take on Union at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
