It was a good run, but the Coolidge Yellowjackets unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Friday. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 55-54 to Penelope. Coolidge lost against Penelope in their previous head to head back in February of 2023, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 70-29 score last time.
Jayden Schwarz continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Penelope, dropping a double-double on 20 points and 22 rebounds. Schwarz has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 13 times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Michael Corson, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Coolidge's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-6. As for Penelope, they pushed their record up to 18-2 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Coolidge will head out on the road to take on Avalon at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Penelope, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Trinidad at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Trinidad is coming into the game on a six-game losing streak.
