The Shafter Generals and the Torres Toros squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Shafter Generals had to settle for second. Shafter was just a hair shy of victory and fell 43-42 to Torres. Shafter's defeat signaled the end of their 11-game winning streak.
Despite the loss, Shafter still got an impressive performance from Christopher Espinoza, who rushed for 188 yards while picking up 10.4 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Ezekiel Osborne, who threw for 96 yards and two touchdowns.
Shafter's loss dropped their record down to 11-1. As for Torres, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3.
Shafter does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Torres will head out on the road to face off against Dos Palos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Dos Palos will be looking to extend their current 11-game winning streak.
