Roanoke Valley Christian took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Blue Ridge, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The EAGLES came out on top in a nail-biter against the Jays on Thursday, sneaking past 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the EAGLES have posted since April 30, 2024.
The team relied heavily on Luke Somers, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Ethan Cummings also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.
Grace Christian came out on top against Faith Christian Academy on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 15-5 margin over Faith Christian Academy. Considering the Warriors have won six contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Landon Wright made a big impact no matter where he played. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off two hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Davis Reid was incredible, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. Ethan Wright was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Grace Christian's win was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 11-2. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for Roanoke Valley Christian, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-10.
