The Peninsula Panthers will venture away from home to face off against the Wiseburn- Da Vinci Wolves at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Peninsula is coming into the matchup on a five-game losing streak.
Mira Costa hit Peninsula with a four-run third inning on Wednesday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Panthers took a 9-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mustangs. The home team had taken home the W every time these teams have met since March 28, 2025, but that streak is no more.
Frances Toman made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and got on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Lang, who went 3-for-5 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Wiseburn- Da Vinci lost 16-3 to Harvard-Westlake on Tuesday.
Nancy Arnwine was cooking despite her team's loss, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and two RBI. Eden Fagnani was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one run.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci's loss dropped their record down to 6-17. As for Peninsula, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Wiseburn- Da Vinci's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Peninsula has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 10.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Wiseburn- Da Vinci, though, as they've been averaging 8.9 hits. Given Peninsula's sizable advantage in that area, the Wolves will need to find a way to close that gap.
Peninsula skirted past Wiseburn- Da Vinci 6-5 in their previous matchup on April 3rd. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Panthers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
