The Leake Academy Rebels will head out on the road to face off against the Silliman Institute Wildcats at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this matchup.
Leake Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They fell just short of Simpson Academy by a score of 41-39. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from George Wilcox, who threw for 376 yards and three touchdowns while completing 81.8% of his passes. Charlie Brantley also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after a string of five wins, Silliman Institute's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They and Oak Forest Academy were almost perfectly matched up, but Silliman Institute suffered an agonizing 21-20 defeat.
Leake Academy's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Silliman Institute, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-3.
Leake Academy took a serious blow against Silliman Institute in their previous meeting back in November of 2015, falling 27-0. Can Leake Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
