The Kettle Run Cougars had already proven themselves in the regular season, and didn't miss a beat now that it's playoff time. They took their game at home on Friday with ease, bagging a 47-7 win over Skyline. The result was nothing new for Kettle Run, who have now won nine games by 21 points or more so far this season.
Haydynn Bell went supernova for Kettle Run, rushing for 162 yards and five touchdowns while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Bell was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 65 yards. Another player making a difference was Jacob Mulhern, who threw for 136 yards and two touchdowns.
Kettle Run's victory bumped their record up to 10-1. As for Skyline, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-7.
Kettle Run will head out on the road to face off against Brentsville District at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Brentsville District is on a six-game streak of home wins, Kettle Run a 11-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season)-- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the field. Skyline does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
