Baseball Recap: Colorado Academy Picks Up Fifth Consecutive Win

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Colorado Academy). They were the clear victors by an 18-7 margin over the Jefferson Academy Jaguars on Thursday. The win was familiar territory for the Mustangs, who have now won five games in a row.

Ben Bridich made a splash while hitting and pitching. He tossed 1.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. What's more, he posted two strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. That home run was his first of the season.

In other batting news, Colorado Academy got a massive performance out of Kieran Delaney, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, four RBI, and two doubles. That's the most RBI Delaney has posted since back in April of 2024. Jordan Reiter was another key player, going a perfect 4-for-4 with four runs and one stolen base.

Colorado Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .636. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Colorado Academy's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Jefferson Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-12-1.

Coming up, Colorado Academy will take on Kent Denver at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Mustangs' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Sun Devils have averaged an impressive 7.6 runs per game this season. As for Jefferson Academy, they will square off against Englewood at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The Pirates have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.92 runs per game on average), something the Jaguars will no doubt try to take advantage of.
