Softball Game Preview: Many Tigers vs. Anacoco Indians

Many has gone 9-1 against Anacoco recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Saturday. The Tigers will welcome the Indians at 2:00 p.m. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Many will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Elizabeth on Thursday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Bulldogs with a sharp 22-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Tigers, who have now won nine games by seven runs or more so far this season.

Rylee Gunter was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed three innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in strikeouts (five). She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 1-for-2.

In other batting news, Leah Bourque was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and four RBI. Those four runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Caylee Downs, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Many always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .710. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Elizabeth only posted an OBP of .357.

Meanwhile, Anacoco owes their pitching crew a big pat on the back after their performance on Thursday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 1-0 victory over Pine Prairie.

Many is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. As for Anacoco, their victory bumped their record up to 22-4.

Many took their win against Anacoco when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 11-0 score. Will the Tigers repeat their success, or do the Indians have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
