The Loch Raven Raiders's 20-2 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They received a tough blow on Monday as they fell 54-40 to Mercy. While losing is never fun, Loch Raven can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 88th, while Mercy is ranked 30th).
Loch Raven's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Destaney Harris, who scored 16 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Harris has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Aariyn Gibson, who scored ten points.
This is the second loss in a row for Loch Raven and nudges their season record down to 1-2. As for Mercy, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 3-1.
Loch Raven will head out on the road to face off against Catonsville at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Mercy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Pallotti at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
