The Neshoba Central Rockets had already won 20 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 34.9 points), and they went ahead and made it 21 on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 74-45 win over Ridgeland. Neshoba Central has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 17 games by 22 points or more this season.
Zharia Leflore continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyli Truss, who scored six points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Ridgeland lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Eva Young, who scored 19 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Another player making a difference was Raniya Fisher, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Neshoba Central's win was their 21st straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 23-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 72.2 points per game. As for Ridgeland, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-10 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Neshoba Central will challenge the Gators at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Vicksburg will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Mississippi Rankings (they are ranked 138th, while the Rockets are ranked first). As for Ridgeland, they will head out on the road to square off against the Vikings at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Warren Central comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
