The Ryle Raiders pushed their score all the way to 64 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Blazer by a score of 66-64. It was the first time this season that Ryle let down their fans at home.
Ryle's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Gracie Carrigan, who scored 17 points. That's the first time this season that Carrigan scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sarah Baker, who scored 18 points.
Ryle's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 8-4. As for Blazer, their win bumped their record up to 6-4.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Ryle won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Butler at 1:00 p.m. on December 29, 2023. Butler is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. Blazer and Elliott County will face off at 7:30 p.m. on January 4th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Elliott County is coming into the contest on a three-game losing streak.
