This season hasn't been kind to the Key West Conchs, who are still winless after their 12th matchup. They ended up on the wrong side of a tough 64-41 walloping at the hands of Palmetto Ridge on Saturday. Key West was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 41-14.
Melody Charlton was her usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with eight assists and three steals for Palmetto Ridge. Haley Cousins was another key contributor, scoring 19 points along with five rebounds.
Key West dropped their record down to 0-12 with that loss, which was their 12th straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.6 points per game. As for Palmetto Ridge, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Key West will be staying on the road on Wednesday to face off against Marathon at 5:30 p.m. on January 24th. As for Palmetto Ridge, they will face off against Gulf Coast at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Gulf Coast presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Palmetto Ridge in Florida (Gulf Coast is ranked 101st, while Palmetto Ridge is ranked 340th).
