Fairfield Prep is a perfect 5-0 against West Haven since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Wednesday. The Jesuits will host the Blue Devils at 4:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Fairfield Prep has 11 straight wins, West Haven has ten straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
On Monday, Fairfield Prep earned a 9-6 victory over Hamden.
Ryan Ventrelle was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Nick Garofalo, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Fairfield Prep kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 12 consecutive contests.
Notre Dame hit West Haven with a four-run second inning on Monday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Blue Devils lost 12-3 to the Green Knights.
Xavier Molina made the most of his time in the batter's box despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.
Fairfield Prep's win bumped their record up to 14-1. As for West Haven, their loss dropped their record down to 4-12.
West Haven's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Fairfield Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .400. It's a different story for West Haven, though, as they've only averaged .256. Will they be able to contain Fairfield Prep's hitters?
Everything went Fairfield Prep's way against West Haven when the teams last played back in April, as Fairfield Prep made off with a 14-1 victory. Do the Jesuits have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Blue Devils turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
