The Walla Walla Blue Devils will be playing at home against the Richland Bombers at 5:45 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Walla Walla's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. The matchup between them and Kennewick wasn't particularly close, with Walla Walla falling 60-45. That's two games in a row now that Walla Walla has lost by exactly 15 points.
Loss or not, Walla Walla got some senior leadership from Madison Reibel and Cami Martin. Reibel scored 24 points, while Martin. scored 12 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Miriam Hutchens, who scored four points along with eight rebounds.
Walla Walla struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Richland was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Friday as they fell 50-44 to the Braves. While losing is never fun, Richland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while the Braves are ranked fourth).
Walla Walla's defeat dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Richland, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 9-9.
Walla Walla was able to grind out a solid victory over the Bombers in their previous meeting two weeks ago, winning 55-47. Does Walla Walla have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bombers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
