Las Cruces' win came from a few key players Centennial will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bethzy Quinones, who scored 11 points and seven steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last eight games she's played. Sofia Herrera was another key player, posting four points in addition to ten boards, seven assists, and five steals.
Las Cruces' win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-8. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.8 points over those games. As for Centennial, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-14 record this season.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Centennial has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 27 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Las Cruces struggles in that department as they've been averaging 22.6 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Centennial couldn't quite finish off Las Cruces when the teams last played on Thursday and fell 40-38. Can Centennial avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
