After having lost a blowout in their previous game against El Capitan/Centennial Academy, the Ash Fork Spartans were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. Everything went their way against Grand Canyon as Ash Fork made off with a 53-29 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win Ash Fork has posted since December 14, 2023.
It was another big night for Gabril Zeller, who scored 24 points along with three steals. Parnell Tsosie was another key contributor, scoring 12 points.
Grand Canyon lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Everett Rommel, who scored ten points along with five rebounds and three steals. Rommel continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Lambon, who scored five points.
Ash Fork pushed their record up to 11-10 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 65.7 points per game. As for Grand Canyon, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-16.
Ash Fork will head out on the road to challenge Williams at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. That game will pit two of the most dominant players against one another: Nickoli Cody and Josue Tellez. As for Grand Canyon, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Fredonia at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredonia has now lost ten straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 28.
