Westland put another one in the bag on Wednesday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with an 11-8 win over the Briggs Bruins. That result was just more of the same for these two, as the Cougars also won the last time the pair played back in May of 2015.
Westland got a massive performance out of Sophie Harris, who scored two runs and stole Five bases. while going 2-for-4. Harris is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: she's snagged at least two every time she's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Payton Justice, who scored a run and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4.
Harris wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Westland kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits every time they've taken the field this season.
Westland pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Westland will venture away from home to challenge Franklin Heights at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Westland knows how to get runs on the board -- the team has finished with ten runs or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Franklin Heights likes a good challenge. As for Briggs, they are headed away from home for the first time to face off against Africentric Early College at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. The game will give Briggs their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
