District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA recap October 22, 2013
McDowell was the team that made the biggest jump in the rankings, moving from fifth to third in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA. The Trojans defeated East 42-6 earlier in the week.
Cathedral Prep added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Central Tech, 41-14. The win marks eighth in a row for the the Ramblers.
General McLane's offense was unstoppable this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Zach Fox threw for 63 and 1 touchdown and Clay Smith had 63 yards receiving. On the ground Tyler Sanders contributed 121 yards.
The Lancers' dynamic duo of Fox and Smith proved tough for Strong Vincent to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week.
Chris Laird was a key player and the best on defense this week as General McLane beat the Colonels. The 6-foot-2 senior grabbed 1 sack.
Sanders was a passing and rushing force as Jim Wells' team defeated Strong Vincent. Sanders' favorite target this week was Smith, who caught 2 passes for 63 yards.
Leading the league in both passing and receiving yards, Cathedral Prep's Billy Fessler and Felix Manus-Schell have proven to be a lethal combination. 6-1 quarterback Fessler has thrown for 1,637 yards this season, while Manus-Schell has 20 catches for 356 yards. Sanders from the Lancers leads the league in rushing with 910 yards.
Sanders of the General McLane is only 90 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 125 carries Sanders has put up 910 yards this year.
A big matchup in District 10 Region 6 AAA/AAAA this week will be when Central Tech takes on the Lancers. Rob Matz's team is in fourth place, while General McLane is in second place.
McDowell took down the Warriors 42-6 last week, the largest margin of any game. jake tarasovitch threw for 40 yards and ran for 73 yards in the win.
