Basketball Game Preview: Decatur Community Red Devils vs. Logan Trojans

After both having extra time off, the Decatur Community Red Devils and the Logan Trojans will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another on Friday. Decatur Community will be strutting in after a victory while Logan will be coming in after a defeat.

Decatur Community is headed into the game after thoroughly thrashing Trego: they outscored them in every quarter. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Decatur Community blew Trego out of the water with a 50-20 final score. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 50th, while the Golden Eagles are ranked 185th), the result last Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Decatur Community got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Jenna Fortin out in front who posted 13 points in addition to six boards and five steals. That's the most steals Fortin has posted since back in January. The team also got some help courtesy of Elsie Larson, who put up 13 points and eight rebounds.

Decatur Community was working as a unit and finished the game with 14 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Trego only posted six assists.

Meanwhile, Logan had to start their season on the road on December 13th, and it wasn't the start they were hoping for. They had to suffer through a 51-21 loss at the hands of Wheatland-Grinnell. The Trojans have struggled against the Thunderhawks recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

The victory made it two in a row for Decatur Community and bumps their season record up to 4-2. As for Logan, their loss dropped their record down to 0-1.

Decatur Community beat Logan 42-33 in their previous matchup back in January of 2020. Does Decatur Community have another victory up their sleeve, or will Logan turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
