Riverside is 0-4 against Timberlake since March of 2016 but things could change on Tuesday. The Rams will head out on the road to square off against the Tigers at 3:30 p.m.
Riverside can't be too happy about their upcoming road game considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Friday. They came up short against East Valley, falling 16-6.
Austin Jenkinson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Jenkinson was also big at the plate, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run, one double, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, it was a proper cat-fight when Timberlake faced off against Kellogg on Monday. The Tigers were the clear victors by a 23-1 margin over the Wildcats. The matchup marked the Tigers' most dominant win of the season so far.
Like Riverside, Timberlake also got a great game from a two-way player: Eric Wylie. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Wylie also tossed no walks, which is notable because Timberlake is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 1-2 otherwise. Wylie was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with four runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those four runs gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Tanner Van Tassel was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Ryker Brennan was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.
Timberlake always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .610. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Riverside suffered a grim 19-6 defeat to Timberlake when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
