Troy and Little River Academy are an even 4-4 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Trojans will face off against the Bumblebees at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Troy will be strutting in after a win while Little River Academy will be coming in after a defeat.
Troy took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. They took down C.H. Yoe 42-24. The Trojans pushed the score to 35-10 by the end of the third, a deficit the Yoemen cut but never quite recovered from.

Jayden Lucky had another great game (as he tends to do), rushing for 202 yards while picking up 9.6 yards per carry. His rushing production has been exceptional as that marked his eighth straight game with at least 120 rushing yards dating back to last season. The team also got some help courtesy of Hunter Fryman, who threw for 211 yards and one TD.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Troy was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 243 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Troy's defense and their 11 sacks. It was truly a group effort as Mason Barnett, Kollin Roepke, and Tomas Lopez picked up two apiece. Roepke also made seven total tackles, which is notable because Troy is 3-1 when he posts at least three total tackles, but 1-2 otherwise. Tedricc Calhoun was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Little River Academy unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Friday. They were outmatched by Franklin and fell 64-14. While losing is never fun, the Bumblebees can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 374th, while the Lions are ranked 96th).
Although Little River Academy took the loss, they still got scores from Vincent Williams and Manny Martinez.
Little River Academy now has a losing record of 3-4. As for Troy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Friday's game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Lucky and Brian Grissom. Lucky just won't slow down this season and has averaged 158.6 rushing yards per game. Grissom has been a dominant force too and has averaged 159.9 rushing yards per game.
Everything came up roses for Troy against Little River Academy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, as the squad secured a 59-28 victory. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Grissom, who rushed for 206 yards and three scores while picking up 11.4 yards per carry. Now that he's got a second chance to win this matchup, will the Trojans still be able to contain Grissom? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
