Football Recap: Archbishop Riordan Extends Winning Streak to Ten + How To Watch

Archbishop Riordan hadn't done well against Junipero Serra recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Crusaders came out on top against the Padres by a score of 42-35. The victory was just business as usual for the Crusaders, who after ten games remain undefeated this season.

Archbishop Riordan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Adonyae Brown led the charge by rushing for 193 yards and three TDs while picking up 9.2 yards per carry, and also picking up 43 receiving yards and one touchdown. Brown has been hot, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Another passer making a difference was Michael Mitchell Jr., who threw for 222 yards and three TDs on only 19 passes.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Archbishop Riordan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 304 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September of 2024.

Archbishop Riordan's defensive line stepped up as well, laying out William Orr three times. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Zachary Kleppin, Sione Fanaika, and Dj Sanchez, who each picked up one sack apiece.

Junipero Serra's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Orr, who rushed for 61 yards and one score, and Iziah Singleton, who rushed for 50 yards and three touchdowns.

Archbishop Riordan's record is now 10-0. As for Junipero Serra, they moved to 6-4 with that loss, which also ended their six-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Archbishop Riordan will challenge Salinas at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Crusaders will need to watch out since the Cowboys have now posted at least 31 points in their last five games. As for Junipero Serra, they will face off against Archbishop Mitty at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That contest will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Singleton and Lazaro Faraj-Washington.
