Hampton is 0-4 against Lovett since November of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Hampton Hornets will head out on the road to square off against the Lovett Lions at 7:30 p.m. Hampton is no doubt hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Even though Hampton has not done well against Woodland recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Hampton managed a 43-39 win over Woodland.
The match pitted two dominant guards against one another in Jordan Townsend and Mason Lewis. Townsend had a solid game and scored 16 points. Meanwhile, Lewis did his best for the losing side, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, Lovett humbled Stockbridge with a 74-36 victory. Given Lovett's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 158th, while Stockbridge is ranked 451st), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hampton's record is now 6-17. As for Lovett, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-10 record this season.
Hampton came up short against Lovett in their previous meeting back in November of 2023, falling 65-59. Can Hampton avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
