Basketball Recap: Monday's Win Is Hanahan's Fifth in Last Six Outings

Hanahan's tournament run continued when they took on Cardinal Newman on Monday. The Hanahan Hawks strolled past the Cardinal Newman Cardinals with points to spare, taking the game 49-33.

Among those leading the charge was Camdyn Lawson, who posted 11 points along with six rebounds and three steals. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Selena Riley was another key player, putting up four points along with seven boards and four steals.

Hanahan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 12 offensive rebounds in four consecutive contests.

Cardinal Newman's loss came despite strong showings from Kristin Moye and Zaria Thompson. Moye had eight points and four steals, while Thompson put up eight points and seven rebounds.

Hanahan has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 28.5 points per game. As for Cardinal Newman, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
