Mullins extended their losing streak to three on Tuesday, dropping them down to 2-11. They lost 20-4 to the East Clarendon Wolverines. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wolverines this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 25-1 on Tuesday.
Mullins saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Jakeylin Hayes, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one run and one RBI. Layne Gerrald also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
As for East Clarendon, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-5. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matchups by seven runs or more this season.
On East Clarendon's side, Wes Springs and Barnes McConnell were major factors no matter where they played. On the mound, Springs pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Meanwhile, McConnell pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in seven consecutive appearances. At bat, Springs got on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases and three runs, while McConnell went 1-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave Springs a new career-high.
In other batting news, Kenley Sullivan was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2025. The team also got some help courtesy of Gavin White, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Mullins will take on Lee Central at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Auctioneers will need to watch out since the Stallions have now posted at least ten runs in their last three games. As for East Clarendon, they will head out to take on West Florence at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Knights have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
