Baseball Recap: Summit Wins Going Away Against Lewis County

Summit not only won on Saturday, but they posted their biggest win since April 22, 2024. Everything went their way against the Lewis County Panthers as the Summit Spartans made off with a 12-2 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Spartans.

Brady North looked comfortable as he struck out six batters over 3.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and only one walk). Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brady Woodard, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in hits (two). Another player making a difference was Connor Burtch, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Summit always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Lewis County only posted an OBP of .357.

Summit's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Lewis County, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 1-3.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Summit will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Page at 6:30 p.m. on March 24th. As for Lewis County, a feisty cat fight will be fought as Lewis County Panthers take on Waverly Central Tigers at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. They have given up an average of 10.2 runs per game this season, so hopefully the team got some pitching drills in this week.
