The Whiting Oilers suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Saturday. They took a serious blow against Hammond Bishop Noll, falling 81-31. While losing is never fun, Whiting can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 420th, while Hammond Bishop Noll is ranked 75th).
Whiting's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Nick Davenport, who scored nine points along with ten rebounds, and Yovanni Garro who scored 12 points.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Hammond Bishop Noll to victory, but perhaps none more so than Caleb Parks, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Jaedin Reyna, who scored 17 points along with two steals.
Whiting's loss was their ninth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 1-10. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 11-6.
Whiting will head out on the road to square off against Marquette Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Marquette Catholic focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 last Thursday. As for Hammond Bishop Noll, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hammond Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 23rd.
