Basketball Game Preview: Bonners Ferry Badgers vs. Lakeland Hawks

The Bonners Ferry Badgers will head out on the road to face off against the Lakeland Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Bonners Ferry is headed in fresh off scoring the most points they have all season. They blew past Stillwater Christian 64-33 on Saturday. The Badgers have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.

Bonners Ferry found their leader in sophomore Taren Bateman, who went 9 for 14 on her way to 23 points in addition to eight boards and four steals. The matchup was Bateman's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydney Hinthorn, who posted ten points along with six boards and three steals.

Meanwhile, Lakeland waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They took down the Blackhawks 42-28. The 42-point effort marked the Hawks' lowest-scoring game of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Bonners Ferry has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 4-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Lakeland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Things could have been worse for Bonners Ferry, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 75-60 loss to Lakeland when the teams last played back in January. Can Bonners Ferry avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
