The Granger Lancers's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Cyprus at home and fell 84-47. Granger has not had much luck with Cyprus recently, as the team's come up short the last eight times they've met.
Despite the loss, Granger still got an impressive performance from Stephen Kpaleh, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Isaiah Gukeisen, who scored five points.
Cyprus' win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stone Tia, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. That's the first time this season that Tia scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Koli Fosita, who scored 14 points along with five rebounds.
Granger's defeat was their 19th straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-12. As for Cyprus, their win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-13.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Hunter the next time they take the court. Cyprus will host Hunter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Granger will head out to face them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
