The Strasburg Rams will challenge the Sherando Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Strasburg 0.5, Sherando 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.
On Tuesday, Strasburg made easy work of Stonewall Jackson and carried off a 12-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Rams, who have now won eight contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Hannah Merriner was incredible, firing off two home runs, two stolen bases, and three runs while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Kenley Arnold, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
Strasburg was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Stonewall Jackson only posted a batting average of .118.
Meanwhile, Sherando entered their tilt with Skyline on Friday with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 6-4 victory over the Hawks.
Lilian Wray spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up nine Ks. With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.4 strikeouts per game.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Makayla Williams, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Sophia Zimmerman was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one home run.
Strasburg's win bumped their record up to 9-2. As for Sherando, their victory bumped their record up to 6-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Wednesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Strasburg has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Sherando struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Strasburg got the 'W' in their previous meeting back in March against Sherando by a conclusive 7-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Rams since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
