Even though the Granite Bay Grizzlies scored an imposing 72 points on Friday, the Del Oro Golden Eagles still came out on top. Del Oro secured a 76-72 W over Granite Bay. Given Del Oro's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 76th, while Granite Bay is ranked 361st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Caden Pinnick, who shot 4-for-8 from long range and almost dropped a double-double on 29 points and nine rebounds. Jake Williams was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds.
Del Oro is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 21-7 record this season. As for Granite Bay, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 8-20.
Del Oro will be playing in front of their home fans against Patterson at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Patterson is coming into the game with five straight wins on the road, so Del Oro is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. As for Granite Bay, they will square off against Ceres at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Ceres knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven matchups -- so hopefully Granite Bay likes a good challenge.
