Chillicothe typically has all the answers at home, but on Friday Owensville proved too difficult a challenge. They came out on top against the Hornets by a score of 7-4. The win was nothing new for the Dutchmen as they're now sitting on three straight.
Owensville got a great performance from Matt Eckelkamp as he tossed 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off seven hits. Eckelkamp has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Chase Weirich, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Logan Bailey, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one RBI.
Owensville's record is now 6-4. As for Chillicothe, their loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 12-3.
