Baseball Recap: Carlisle Now 4-1 over Last Five Games

Carlisle's game last Wednesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 6-1 victory over the Hargrave Military Academy Tigers. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Casey Thomas made a big impact no matter where he played. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Cooper Meyer was excellent, going 1-for-3 with three stolen bases and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Rafe Thomas also deserves some recognition as he brought in his first RBI of the season.

Carlisle has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.2 runs over those games. As for Hargrave Military Academy, their defeat was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 2-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Carlisle will head out to take on Millennium at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Hargrave Military Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Miller School of Albemarle at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Mavericks will roll in looking for their 14th straight victory, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight.
